Hide and Seek

By Natalie

Pitch black darkness, and the tiniest crack of light creeping in. Lights off. Curtains drawn, and heavy breathing upon me.

Perfume lingers in the air. I hear the creaking of the bed, meaning someone is near. I lie against the wall, arms by my sides. I can almost hear my heart pounding. Footsteps creep close. Soft shuffles in the room. Someone had been found. I wondered if it would be me next.

Still standing there, crammed against the wall, almost in plain sight. Suddenly like a flash of lightning, the lights turn on. I win once again.
